Notice: Information About PAC for ACP Chapter Newsletters

The American College of Physicians (ACP) and its chapters are 501(c)(3) tax exempt organizations, which means they are prohibited by law from engaging in political activities and cannot support or establish Political Action Committees (PACs). A PAC is an entity permitted under federal law to make contributions to political candidates running for office at the state and /or federal level. Thus, there may be no discussion of PAC issues at ACP or ACP chapter meetings.

In 2004, ACP’s sister organization, the American College of Physicians Services, Inc. (ACP Services) formed a PAC to help promote internists' participation in the political process. As a separate 501(c)(6) tax exempt entity, ACP Services is allowed by law to engage in political activity and discussion through the formation of a PAC. Members of ACP are automatically also members of ACP Services.

All dues - paying and/or voting members of ACP/ACP Services who are U.S. citizens or legal U.S. residents are invited to attend the ACP Services meeting to discuss the ACP Services PAC and other ACP Services activities. The next ACP Services meeting is scheduled for [date, time, place].
